Here's some of my work at WLOY...
WLOY aims to support local music, community, businesses, and people facing homelessness. We participate in events in the local Baltimore community including the Homeless Persons' Memorial ceremony, the Mayor's Annual Christmas Parade, Honfest, and Hampdenfest. I have been working at WLOY since I was a Freshman at Loyola in 2019. I started out as a "Music Librarian" where I was tasked with organizing CDs and listening to new music sent from promotional companies. While the pandemic forced us to shift all operations virtually for a year, I became the Music Director my first year back on campus Junior year and finally moved up to General Manager my Senior year. WLOY has been one of my favortie parts of my time at Loyola and has given me so many great opportunities, including hosting my own radio show!
Every year in April, WLOY participates in Vinylthon where we go a full 24 hours playing strictly vinyl records. Radio stations around the country participate in this celebration of vinyl, and I got to record my first Vinylthon show last year in 2022. The on-air studio has two turntables, so I was in charge of cueing up each song manually. Vinylton is my favorite day of the year, and I'm so happy to have been a part of it!
